HIST/HSDA 3101: The History of Social Reform in the United States, 1880-2000:  This course traces the historical roots and evolution of social reform policies and the human services profession in the United States from the late 19th century to the present.  During the twentieth century, the relationship between individual citizens and government changed dramatically in the United States.  Debates and decisions during this period continue to influence and shape social policy and public opinion.  Focusing on significant reform periods in the twentieth century, this class explores the evolution of the social welfare state in the United States, putting current policy debates and human services delivery in historical perspective.  
Prerequisite or co-requisite: HIST 2111 or HIST 2112; HSDA 3100 for HSDA majors
