International Admissions 

Gainesville State College welcomes students from other countries. The presence of international students fosters cultural exchange, which can be beneficial to the student body and to the community at large. International students may enroll in any program of study offered at Gainesville State College. International applicants must submit the following credentials at least 6 months prior to the desired semester of enrollment:
  • must submit a sworn affidavit of support from the financial sponsor and a notarized letter from the sponsor's bank showing funds available for tuition, fees and living expenses for one year.
  • must submit an original or certified true copy of all high school and college transcripts, translated into English.
  • Social Security number. Applications for Social Security numbers may be obtained from any United States Post Office. or at Social Security Online.
  • must submit official satisfactory scores on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) English proficiency exam. I-20 will be issued after the file is complete and the student has been accepted to Gainesville State College.
General Information
  • International students may enroll in any program of study offered at Gainesville State College. To view a complete listing of programs offered at GSC, please refer to our on-line catalog.
  • Gainesville State College has no residence halls, so international students must make their own arrangements for living accommodations and transportation. Click here for information on housing! Click here for information about the city of Gainesville, Georgia!
  • International students attending Gainesville State College must pay non-resident fees.  F-1 students must also pay for mandatory health insurance and an institutional SEVIS fee each semester of enrollment.  Health insurance is currently $70.00 per month and the SEVIS fee is $100.00 per semester.
  • Gainesville State College has three academic terms (fall, spring and summer) called semesters. Students are allowed to enroll full-time in all three terms.  F-1 students must be enrolled in a full-time (12 hours or more) course of study during the fall and spring semesters. Students are not required to be enrolled in classes full-time during the summer unless it is the first term of attendance at GSC.

  • International students DO NOT qualify for financial aid. It is very important for an international student to understand s/he is responsible for paying their own tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. Only Permanent Residents and U.S. citizens can file for financial aid.
