The mission and purpose of the Institute for Global Initiatives is to support and promote globalization of the campus, the curriculum and the various communities we serve. By sponsoring collaborations, research, exchanges, and conferences, the Institute promotes a global purpose and deeper cultural understanding.
Goals
- To facilitate internationalization of the curriculum
- To develop and support international partners as well as support visiting scholars and delegations
- To develop grants and external funding for international programs
- To develop faculty, staff, and students through teaching, research, and scholarly exchanges
- To sponsor and host conferences to help promote understanding and respect of culture in its many forms
- To offer courses and internships across divisions and departments fostering interdisciplinary globalization
- To develop programs, courses, and degrees for and with other countries to better educate students and communities about global issues
- To support study abroad
- To enhance student understanding of diverse cultures and facilitate cultural exchanges
- To develop and sustain global programs intersecting with student affairs, continuing education (economic development), and academic programs and assess all initiatives
- To serve as a clearing house for international initiatives
